Introduction to history GOA

Goa has a coastal line of 1015kms with a whole lot of beautiful beaches and a rich flora and fauna reserves. goa was previously ruled by mauryans, satalavanas, badami chalukyas, kalumbas, kalyan chalukyas and vijayanagaras and the bahamani kings. It was then ruled by The Portuguese for a very long period and became independent in the 19 december 1961.

GOA a tourist destination

It has been one of the best tourist destination not only compared to the other states of India but also in comparison to the other foreign cities and countries. The itself tells everything about this beautiful place in many parts of the country and also in the rest of the world. Goa has achieved an image of a standard tourist destination because of its beautiful beaches whoose beauty cant be described but just can be experienced.

Panaji - capital

Panaji is the state capital of GOA. it offers few attractions to tourists. those are basilica of bom Jesus where the mortal remains of st Francis Xavier are enshrined in a silver casket, st cathedral and other churches like church of st Monica, st Augustine, etc. there are also some Hindu temples like mangesha temple, sri mahalsa temple, etc. In spite of its few tourist attractions it is the heart of Goa because of its commercial and spiritual importance.

Margao & Vasco

These two cities are the commercial capitals of Goa and are situated to the southern part of the state. The only international airport of the state is in the city of Vasco. Vasco also have a fair amount of shipyards where the trading through the sea is done. There are two main railway stations in Goa. one is in Vasco and the other one in Margao. there are many beaches there situated nearby these two cities like colva beach, etc. as far asw the tourism point of view is concerned these two cities are ideal for accommodation as it is has all the necessary and luxury facilities available.

Other places in Goa

15 km from Panjim is calangute beach, it is a well developed beach. other famous beaches in the north are baga beach, anjuna beach, cairy beach, etc. the famous beach in the south is palolem beach. wild life sanctuary at Bondla, about 100km from panjim is the dudh sagar falls, 3 miles long miramar beach and daunapaula bay, Mapusa town( 15km from panjim ) are the other important tourist spot in goa
